Ekadashi Fasting Method and Rituals
As per the Hindu calendar, the eleventh day after every Purnima and Amavasya is called Varuthini Ekadashi. A month is divided into two parts namely Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha and an Ekadashi falls in both of the Pakshas. The eleventh day after the full moon is called Krishna Paksha Ekadashi and the eleventh day after the new moon is called Shukla Paksha Ekadashi.
Therefore, a year consists of approximately twenty-four to twenty-six Ekadashi, depending upon the calendar. Ekadashi is a very auspicious occasion for the devotees to worship Lord Shri Hari Vishnu and obtain his blessings. Depending upon the month they fall in, the Ekadashi Vrat has different purposes.
For a person trying to achieve certain goals by observing a fast and worshipping Lord Shri Hari Vishnu on Ekadashi, the method of fasting and worshipping the Lord has to be very correct and as per the rituals.
